What is a Hidden Fence?

  • How does Hidden Fence work?

A Hidden Fence boundary cable is installed around your property, at below ground level, or on a fence line.

A patented FM digital transmitter sends a coded radio signal through this cable. Your dog or cat wears a lightweight, waterproof receiver on a collar that detects this harmless, coded signal.

When your pet gets close to the proximity of the cable, an audible warning tone from his collar alerts him that he’s too close and needs to back up.

If the warning tone is ignored the collar emits a non-injurious, customised electrical stimulation.

Our DogWatch®  Hidden Fence Solution has a 99.9% success rate and is backed by a money-back guarantee.

  • How does my dog learn to stay within the Hidden Fence?

Your dog learns the Hidden Fence boundary through audio tones and visual marker flags in conjunction with our professional Hidden Fence training protocol.

When installed by CQ Hidden Fence we will train your pet how to understand the boundaries through our specific Hidden Fence training protocol. Through repetition and consistency, they learn where they can run and play while staying at home.

With training, your pet remembers the placement of the flags and is trained to stay within the border. During the training period, flags are slowly taken away.

If your pet goes within 1.5m (customised to each property) of the boundary, he will hear an audible warning sound from the receiver that means he’s getting close to the boundary. If he reaches the boundary, he will receive a suitable electrical stimulation.

Why should I use Hidden Fence for my Dog?

DogWatch® systems by Hidden Fence have kept pets safe in their yards for more than 19 years in Australia.  To date, there have been several million of these systems used successfully around the world.

The dog owners who seek out these training aids are often having problems managing their pet’s movements and are anxious for a solution. They are worried about the safety of their pet and also the risk of it being impounded.

In some cases the owners may have acquired an unsuitable animal for their lifestyle but are now truly bonded to their pet. In other cases, the cost of fencing an adequate space for the pet is unreasonable for the owner or fencing may not be possible (e.g. rental accommodation) or clash with other values held by the owner (aesthetics of their property) or council overlays.

What does my Dog feel from the DogWatch®  Collar?

Electronic dog collars (DogWatch® Collar) use electronic stimulation (ES) not electric shock. ES delivered by modern electronic collars is Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS), which artificially stimulates nerves and sensory receptors. TENS has no injurious consequences and is often used to manage chronic pain in humans.

Our collar only delivers 1 millijoule of stored discharge energy; which is scientifically defined as: “a threshold of feeling, or tingling sensation”. Furthermore, the amount of correction can be adjusted so that a dog receives the appropriate level of stimulation for its size and temperament.

When installed by CQ Hidden Fence, we will meet your dog and evaluate the proper setting for your pet. DogWatch® Hidden Fence systems have been tested by a major veterinary college, and are used and recommended by veterinarians, animal behaviourists and other welfare organisations.
